Trekking to Poon Hill, Annapurna region – The Smug Monday Series, Ep. 4

Today me and my dad went to Poon Hill (Spoon Hill as I call it).  I got woken up at four o ‘clock in the morning.  Then I was forced to put on my clothes (all of the clothes I owned), it was NOBLIN!!!  Plus, to add to this it was pitch black.  The reason it was only me and my dad is that Sam/Spam/Samoser was chucking his guts up so my mum stayed back to accompany him.

Dad, the guide and me set off at a fast pace up the steep steps.  I found it easy, but my dad really struggled and he kept slowing me down.  It was over 300m straight up – phew!  The stars were bright when we started, but the sun was just coming up by the time we got to the top.

We were approximately the 7th, 8th and 9th people to get to the top.  But it soon filled up with lots of people. We took loads of EPIC with a capital E pictures.  As the sun rose over the giant snowcapped mountains, they turned light orange.  Parts of them got swallowed up by cloud.  As the sun plodded up the side of the mountains we warmed up with some hot chocolate and a coffee.  The trot down the hill made my dad feel properly knackered.

We eventually made it back to the lodge and relaxed with some warm toast and hot milk for breakfast.
