Growing a Pair on Fat Susan
Joyeux Noel! Merry Christmas! Nadolig Llawen! Feli Joyeux Noel! Merry Christmas! Nadolig Llawen! Feliz Navidad!
We spent Christmas Day chatting with family in the UK, and then diving, BBQing and drinking wine with lovely people.
Sending lots of Christmas love from fat Susan! 🎉🎉🎉

More Christmas shopping fun! The lovely lady at M More Christmas shopping fun! The lovely lady at Magasin Hoata, the big shop on the island, offered us a lift back to the dock. Even food shopping is an adventure here. 😁
Yay! Dez’s Christmas presents have arrived! 🎅 A brand new windlass motor, all the way from Scotland, and a throttle cable for Bob’s outboard engine. He’s looking forward to getting his head back in that chain locker...... 🤣 From date of posting, the motor has taken just three weeks to get here. Big thanks to John at SL Spares in Glasgow, and Tahani from Tahiti Crew for being awesome.

There’s much excitement on the island today as the supply ship has arrived. The dock was full of locals with pick-up trucks, collecting stuff. The shops will be full again, just in time for Christmas. 🎄

We’ve just had some awesome homemade tropical mince pies delivered to us by Carolyn from Askari. Thanks! The mango definitely works! We’re finally beginning to feel quite Christmassy!

We’ve been busy today, doing boring admin stuff, school, watermaking, laundry. Bob is still on his davits, which means we haven’t left the boat all day. But we’ve had a good day, and look at that sunset! There’s a tiny slither of a moon in the sky, on its way to the horizon, so the stars will be epic later too.
I really struggle to write these posts because I don’t feel grateful, or thankful, or lucky to be where I am now. We made this happen with hard work and perseverance. I don’t believe in luck. I believe you make your own luck. I won’t write that we’re ‘stuck’ here either. This is what we chose. We could have given up in Panama, but it was our choice to carry on into the Pacific and beyond, not really knowing what would happen. We can’t go forwards or backwards now, and we don’t know what our future holds, but we really are living in the most beautiful place. I miss my family, and I worry so much, but I’m pleased we’re not in the UK. I’m definitely pleased we’re not in Fiji today. Hmmm. Perhaps luck does exist....
